The cost of a funeral can be expensive and are typically made up of the following:
This covers the full arrangement of a funeral. This includes personal supervision of all the arrangements preceding, during and following the service, liaison with third parties, use of the funeral facilities, preparing and attending to all essential documentation and provision of all necessary funeral staff to provide a dignified and personal service.
These include bringing the deceased into our care, embalming and provision of a hearse and all necessary staff for the funeral.
Paying for a funeral
Eden Care will make provisions to offer the service of a funeral for free. However if you are a relative, friend or family member we would expect a contribution towards the funeral. The invoice can be paid in person or with prior agreement with our funeral service providers. You can pay with cash, by cheque or with a debit or credit card.
If you wish the invoice to be referred to a solicitor, please advise us as soon as possible when arranging the funeral. If there is any part of the invoice you do not understand or agree with, please contact our funeral service providers to discuss it.
The Simple funeral
The Simple Funeral includes:
Attending to necessary arrangements
Staff for the funeral
A simple burial
Bringing the deceased into our care within office hours (outside of office hours there will be an extra charge)
Care of the deceased for up to two weeks before the funeral
Provision of a hearse to the cemetery
Certain parts of the Simple Funeral option can be tailored to suit your preferences, however some limitations may apply. Our experienced staff will be happy to talk though your needs and help you decide on the options that best suit you.
If you think you may have trouble meeting funeral costs, please discuss this with us at the time of arrangement.
You may be able to apply for a Social Fund Funeral Payment to help with funeral costs and we have information on who may be eligible and how to make a claim. Payment can only be authorised by the Department of Work and Pensions who can be contacted at www.dwp.gov.uk.
A Funeral Payment claim form (SF200) may be obtained from a Jobcentre Plus office or by calling the DWP Bereavement Service helpline (available Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm): on 0345 606 0265

Please remember that you are personally liable for any amount in excess of the agreed payment by the Department of Social Security (DWP), or indeed the whole invoice amount if a payment is not received.
